Utilising the strength and lightness of recycled
honeycomb paper, O-Shelter is an inexpensive
temporary shelter designed for use by
refugees of natural disasters.
Comprised of modular units that are easy to
set up, dismantle and transport, O-Shelter
is designed for use by refugees of natural
disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis.
O-Shelter is made with recycled honeycomb
paper – a 100% recyclable, sustainable and
environmentally friendly material – making this
temporary shelter light, scalable, structural and
inexpensive to produce.
The shelter can be unfolded and stretched
out into a tholos-like structure, and can
accommodate up to ten people. Each module,
which forms part of the conical roof and the
circular frame wall, is just 0.6m thick. The
unfolding and setting up of the structure only
requires two people. The modules of the
shelter can be easily folded, transported and
stored when not in use. The shelter’s ease of
use and compact dimensions will be useful in
the event of future calamities. |
