The red dot is the quality label for outstanding design. All design concepts that receive the red dot have been examined by a jury of international design experts. With a red dot seal as an endorsement, a design concept naturally attracts the attention of media, industry, investors and consumers.

The red dot honours design concepts that stand out from comparable concepts due to their good design. The red dot stands for high design quality of a design concept, highlighted from among the multitude of design ideas and innovations. There are altogether 14 competition categories and the number of red dot awarded varies, depending on the quality of design concepts submitted each year.

The red dot: best of the best is a highly competitive prize as it honours outstanding design concepts of the highest design quality. Last year, the jury awarded this honorary distinction to just 12 submitted works.

red dot: luminary

The ultimate prize of the competition, the red dot: luminary represents the most outstanding design concept submitted to the competition for the year. Each year, design concepts receiving the red dot: best of the best becomes the nominees for this prize and the result is the highlight of the awarding ceremony.
